Vertical Noise is a trio of filthy individuals from Nottingham that seeks to remove the mundane and predictable aspects of modern pop music. The band are due to release their our upcoming third album ‘It’s not what you think’ on 10th of August across all major digital platforms. Vertical noise recently released their single ‘Club Music’ from the upcoming album which you can check out below!
We caught up with Jay, Dan and Sarah as they talk about their upcoming album and more!
So how has the release of Club Music gone down with fans so far?
So far, so good! Our entire fanbase of parents have raved about it, who described it as “Not as long as some of the other songs”.
Can you tell us how you came up with the track?
After many work night outs, I would be stuck in the smoking section (despite not being a smoker) just so I could talk to people without having club music blasted into my soul.
Can you tell us something about the track no one else knows?
There’s a reference to X-Factor in there somewhere. You just have to find it.
How pumped are you for the release of ‘It’s not what you think’?
Extremely so, we dedicate 23 hours of the day to a daily workout ritual in preparation.
What is your favourite track from the album?
Jay: Either Nice Stuff or Twatellite Navigation.
Dan: My favourite track is Countess Video Interruptions, I’ve always had a tendency towards headbanging riffs.
Sarah: Twatellite Navigation is mine, I like uplifting music with whammy pedals
If you could work with any band or artist on a new song, who would it be and why?
Gordon Ramsey, that man has so much material in him.
What’s the alternative scene like in Nottingham?
It feels like it’s improving each time we venture out, ones to watch out for are our friends Hellebore.
What was the first ever gig you went to?
Jay: Silverchair at Shepherd’s Bush in 2003
Dan: First gig was the Tweenies live back in the early 00’s.. surely that counts as a gig? If not then it was Enter Shikari at Rock City in 2008.
Sarah: Either Sooty and Sweep or Alkaline Trio in 2004.
Will you be touring at all this year?
We’re always on tour, it’s just that sometimes there’s a few days to a week gap inbetween shows.
