The Agony Scene release new video ‘The Ascent and Decline’

The Agony Scene have released new video ‘The Ascent and Decline’, taken from their new album Tormentor, out now via Outerloop Records/Cooking Vinyl. The album is available for purchase here.

”Tormentor is a pissed off and unrelenting record that is a product of the world we live in. The lyrics address all of the subjects one should avoid at a party [like] religion, politics, and various personal demons,” the band said. “‘The Ascent and Decline,’ lyrically, is about watching as people abandon a belief system that they built their lives and careers upon in order to catch a ride on the next train, diving headfirst into a cult of personality. [It’s] effectively selling one’s voice to be on the winning team.’

Tormentor is the band’s first album since 2007’s Get Damned (Century Media), which was preceded by 2005’s The Darkest Red (Roadrunner) and 2003’s self-titled release (Solid State).

Press praise for Tormentor has been far and wide, with Kerrang describing it as ‘heavy, pummelling, and the sort of unrelenting slab of anti’social aggression that’s simply designed for beasting it up in the pit. Welcome back’. Metal Hammer described the new songs has having evolved into “fully formed beasts” and Rock Sound described ‘Serpent’s Tongue’ as ‘simply awe inspiring’ .

The Agony Scene are currently on the annual Summer Slaughter Tour across the USA with Between the Buried and Me, Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya, and more. UK/European tour dates to be announced soon.
