New York pop punk band Ronx recently put out their debut album, titled Division St., which was released on July 7th.
The ten tracks on this album cover many various topics and situations, from heartbreak and relationships to isolation and family problems. Although these songs all tell different stories, the album as a whole spreads one central message: ‘no matter what you may be going through, you never have to go through it by yourself.’ Check out Division St. below!
We caught up with Josh and Miguel from the band before the release as they talked about the album and more!
How pumped are you for the release of Division Street?
Josh: We’re super pumped for this release. This album means a lot to us and we are very proud of it. We can’t wait to see people’s reaction to it and hope many relate to the things we write about it.
Can you tell us something about the album no one else knows?
Josh: Something people may not know about the album is that all three of us had written songs on this album and even Dave sung a few vocals on it. We write together really well and it helps us grow individually and as a whole.
What’s your favourite track from the album?
Josh: Mine changes around a bit. Right now I really like Hello Goodbye Goodnight; it’s very dynamic and the lyrics hit me in my feels.
Miguel: My favorite track on the album varies also, but my top song has to be Hello Goodbye Goodnight or Supernova.
If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?
Josh: I’d love to collab with Ben Barlow of Neck Deep. We are all huge fans of him and I feel he has a very poetic way of writing. His lyrics always carry so much meaning and melody, it inspires me to write like that.
What’s the alternative music scene like in New York?
Josh: The alt music scene is pretty diverse. Some bands stick out more than others, and one of my favorite bands in NYC is Before the Origin. They have amazing vocals, melodies and different sounding songs. They stick out to me.
What was the first ever gig you went to?
Josh: Well, the first concert I went to was a private Blink 182 show in Manhattan with Miguel. We got emailed by Spotify about a secret Blink show and got sent the adress. It was in a cool underground bar in lower Manhattan.
Will you be touring at all this year?
Josh; A tour would be sweet but we really want to prep for one in the right way. Plus school starts again around August so it’ll be kind of hard to tour. We definitely would next summer.
