EP Review: Homebound – More To Me Than Misery

Homebound release their brand new E.P the sharp-toothed biting ‘More To Me Than Misery’. First cut ‘Change Of Heart’ spits out its frustrated Punk-Pop lyrics against a battle-ready musical backdrop. Lead single ‘Coming Clean’ has an angry Emo feel before drawing you in with its “worst case scenario” water bombs which hit and then detonate on hurt feelings standing below. Third up is the mental anguish twister ‘Truth Be Told’ while the steady paced ‘Indelible’ semi explodes with repetitive emotional and relationship failings. Final of the five ‘Yours Truly’ descends further into real adulthood first love blues, is it me, or is it you? the coffee’s gone cold…etc. Homebound have a fresh sound but the subject matter is indicative of the current crop of Punk-Pop bands and the genre as a whole. The post-college halcyon teenage years have given way to the first waves of serious responsibility and with that comes the realisation that no-one gives f**k about you, your feelings or your precious Hollister wearing ego. Welcome to adulthood fuckos. This is a Strong E.P but is in need of a new lyrical topic, that said these songs are going to sound amazing in the live arena.
