New Jersey three-piece The Rareflowers self-titled E.P laconically strokes Pop’s underbelly with a flower while laying in the long grass and staring at the blue sky, through shades. Opener ‘Trip Into The Sun’ shimmies and kinks with a sixties Brit Pop flare. It’s Angel delight light, airy and simplistically tuneful. Next up is ‘June’ which skips to the same understated beat, albeit with a Kooks-ish riff and a whimsical vocal style. The lazy sunshine lie-in continues on ‘New Generation’ a song which evokes images of a Sunday morning brass bed, fluffy pillows and a whispering summers breeze kissing a single white cotton sheet. Final cut ‘Shake’ taps the shoulder of Rock before scurrying back to the safety of Pop’s shade. The Rareflowers have delivered an E.P for all seasons but it sounds better (and perfectly fits) a sunny Friday afternoon. Chilled brilliance.
