EP Review: Liquid State – Save Yourself

Bristolian Rock outfit Liquid State’s debut E.P ‘Save Yourself’ kicks off with the anthemic ‘After Hours’. The song has an enterprisingly confrontational chorus and a Hard Rock meets Grunge musical spine. The methodical ‘Bones To Glass’ pounds with a restrained ‘Devil In A Midnight Mass’ feel, but the track just lacks that last five percent to push it over the ordinary song cliff edge. Lead single ‘Dirty Little Preacher’ (Video link below) swishes and sways around the subject without punching it full in the face, the vocals are impressive though and it’s a safe enough track. ‘Temper’ is a sinister Jekyll and Hyde concoction of hard hitting, two faced Rock ‘N’ Roll. The final cut is the fast paced, finger chopping ‘Unscathed’ which rounds off this industrious and enjoyable E.P.
