In March of this year Scarborough-based R&B artist Loony released her first single, A Small Flame. An entirely independent release, the single found early champions in Apple Music, who made Loony their Artist of The Week in May, and legendary DJ Ebro Darden, who dubbed Loony a breaking artist on his Beats 1 show.
Today, Noisey is premiering the video for her second single, Warm Weather.
Produced by Akeel Henry, a young Toronto producer who has worked with artists like Kid Ink, Jeremih, Ty Dolla $ign, 11:11, Roy Woods, Freddie Gibbs and Sage the Gemini, the track is described by Noisey as ‘a classy throwback…[that] rides a modernized 90s hip-hop soul bounce adorned with Yamaha DX7 keyboards (the official instrument of summer) as LOONY bobs and weaves through the sparkling soundscape,’ and its accompanying video, directed by the artist, forms a perfect compliment to the track’s low key, early summer vibe.
