Fresh from sharing the stage with the likes of Razorlight, The Hoosiers and Starsailor and winning ‘Best Local Single’ at the 6 Towns Radio Awards, Pacific recently returned with another energetic and melodic single Should Have Known, dropping May 11th.
Hailing from Cheshire, Pacific are one of the most hotly tipped acts of the moment. The traditional band tensions are ramped up to the full as the alternative indie band consists of brothers and songwriters Anthony and Daniel Orzel completed by Dave Bithell and Drew Burns.
Embracing influences from the likes of Kasabian, Muse and Coldplay, the guys stirred attention from day one catching the eye of Mark Radcliffe (BBC 6 Music) and Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1).
The band made huge steps in 2017 with their music often played at half time at Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium, along with the music videos on heavy rotation on MUTV and constant support from BBC Introducing, who often invite the band for interviews and live sessions.
In support of their new single the guys will be hitting the road with a string of live shows, playing at the likes of Crystal Palace Festival (this Saturday 16th June). Check out Should Have Known below!
We managed to catch up with the band as they talked about their latest single and more!
How has the release of Should of Have Known gone down with fans so far?
Ant: The release has gone really well – our fans seem to be digging it and the fact the track sounds a lot more like what we are live than some of our previous recordings. It really got more of our piano-rock element across.
Can you tell us something about the single no one else knows?
Dan: It was originally called Turning to War!
Will you be releasing an EP/Album this year?
Ant: No plans currently for an EP/Album – however, we’re back in the studio this summer for another single release in September and we plan to regularly be releasing new music moving into 2019!
How pumped are you for Crystal Palace Festival and your other gigs this year?
Dan: Definitely pumped – it’s great to get on the road over the festival season and soak in some of that summer buzz. Crystal Palace is looking to be a great show in a cool setting – and we’re sure the rest of the gigs won’t disappoint.
If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?
Ant: It’d be probably be Muse – we’d be able take over the piano duties that Matt Bellamy usually has to pick between doing or the guitar and we’d be able to create something really powerful.
How did the 6 Towns Radio Awards go?
Dan: Great! It was an honour to win the Staffordshire & Cheshire Single of the Year award and the whole event was a big celebration of local talent from all areas. Plus, we got the meet Christopher Hughes from Eggheads!
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Dan: The Police (reunion tour) at the Manchester Arena – still one of the best gigs I’ve been to and Stewart Copeland’s drum set was magnificent!
What do you get up to in your spare time when not working on music?
Ant: All got to still work for a living until we can do music full time and quit! Me, Dan, and Drew all working in Marketing and Dave works in a school. Apart from that, we have a great social life with friends living in Manchester, we’d recommend living in the city to anyone.
