Interview: Ash of Eden talk latest release

Hailing from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Ash of Eden was first born in 2009 as a project created by their vocalist Alex Rivers and guitarist Jsmoke. Finally in 2017 they recorded their first full length album Lost Souls, and released a music video for their first single off the album Magic No More. With the album released earlier this year, the band is ready to take on all comers and reach even more people with their metal infused rock sound. Check out Magic No More below!

We managed to catch up with the band as they talked about their latest release and more!

So how has your latest album/EP gone so far with fans then?

Everyone’s been really awesome. The best part has to be when people sing along that’s an energy. You can’t beat. Makes it all worth it even if it’s just a few people!

Tell us something about the release no one knows?

Our album Lost Souls took about a year to finish, and during that time we lost our drummer so we started. Having different drummers come in and lay down drums. This album was a lot of fun to make just cause of all the collaborations with other musicians. Some of the songs feature vocalist from local acts like Seth Herron from Echoes of Creation on our song Passions, Brittany Barnett of Fat Kevin on our song Ghosts, and Eddie Stripe of Vaalbara on our song Dawn (Of A New Day). You can listen to them all at

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Probably In Flames cause we love the atmosphere those guys create. We’re already working on our second album, and we’re planning on experimenting with a heavier sound.

How has your latest single been received?

Magic No More’s been a crowd favorite for a while even before we recorded the album, and were just playing the songs live that was the one everyone wanted us to play! Haha.

Can you tell us about the meaning behind the track?

Magic No More is about becoming disillusioned with the idea of love. Like you’ve been through so much heartbreak, and you really hate that other person for all the crap they put you through, and you’re really down on yourself. My favorite line from that song is “I’ll write in hell now a fallen love song penmanship burning below so when I meet Satan one question is all. ‘Can you release me from love?’ I think it really sums up that song for me.

What tours do you have coming up, and what can you tell us about them?

No tours to discuss yet we’re setting some up for next year. ?

What venue are you most looking forward to playing the most, and why?

The Zydeco they’ve got this really punk atmosphere, but with a great live sound set up.

What else can we expect from you in 2018?

We’re gonna be releasing a new music video around Halloween for our song Death (You Can Dance To, and possibly teasing some stuff from our next album as well! We’re always running around working on something so just keep up with us at facebook.com/AshOfEden/ or twitter: @Ash_Of_Eden to make sure you don’t miss anything!
