Rad Horror continued their mission to reinvigorate the world of alternative rock in 2018 with the release of their highly-anticipated debut EP, Anti Teenage Sensation Part 1. The four-song EP, which premiered with Culture Collide, comes as the band prepares to embark on a full US run supporting Mainland on their Villains tour. On Anti Teenage Sensation Part 1, the raw emotion of Dylan Jackson Scott’s voice seems to melt into reverb-soaked guitars and wall-of-sound choruses throughout the four song collection. Scott’s incredible command of the loud-soft dynamic as a songwriter and the power it can wield calls to mind the golden age of 90’s indie rock while also referencing more recent standouts like Brand New or Moose Blood. The EP further cements the band as a torchbearer for honest, evocative rock and roll. You can listen now on Soundcloud or Spotify. Check it out below!
We managed to catch up with the band as they talk about their latest EP and more!
So how has the release of your EP Anti Teenage Sensation Part 1 gone down so far?
The release has been an amazing experience so far. We’ve had an overwhelming response from fans and friends alike. Spotify has been super supportive of the release, were very fortunate being a rock n roll band 2018.
What’s your favourite track from the EP?
Personally my favorite song is “Teenage Love”. I’ve never been one for nostalgia but this time around I decided to step out of my comfort zone and go backward to dig into my youth a bit more. I’m quite happy I did.
Tell us something about the release no one else knows?
We produce or co-produce everything ourselves. I don’t think many people know that.
Are you already working on a part 2?
Yes, ANTI TEENAGE SENSATION – PART 2 is on the way. We have a lot of songs for it. Now it’s about figuring out what songs we want to put on it and figuring the proper release time. We’re very excited to show the world the 2nd half.
If you could with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?
I’d like to do a song with someone with a truly clear vision in a completely different lane than us. It’s hard to pin point a single artist but maybe someone in the hip hop game that has something important to say.
What’s the alternative scene like in LA at the moment?
It’s pretty much non existent – were one of the only true alternative bands that we know. Everyone around us is very engrossed in pop and hip hop which is cool. It’s nice to be in our own lane though.
What do you get up to in your spare time when not working on music?
I like going to dinner, going shopping, hanging out with my dog at the park. I throughly enjoy all of that.
What was the first ever gig you went to?
Sheryl Crow and Wilco 1996. PNC Bank Arts Center Holmdel, NJ. Hell of a show.
