Wolf Culture originated from the seaside town of Bournemouth back in 2015. After meeting in a former band, drummer (Jake Daniels) and guitarist (Jay Dervan) broke off and put their own ideas to good use. Check out Continents below!

We managed to catch up with the band as they talked about their upcoming EP and more!

So how pumped are you for the release of your EP The Devil’s Plans For Idle Hands?

We’re over the moon. It’s like chucking a piece of yourself on the internet for all to see so it’s pretty daunting, but the response we’ve had from “Wreck” and “Continents” has been more than enough to keep us excited for the release. I just hope you all love it as much as we do.

What is your favourite track from the EP?

“Killing the High Horse” has to be my favourite at the moment, although it changes daily. I like that one ‘cos it’s fun as hell to play live with guitars screaming and your brain feeling shook from all the distortion. “Wreck” is always a good closer.

Can you tell us something about the release no one else knows?

Hmm, I’m not sure if nobody knows about it but it’s fun fact time I guess. During the recording of Devil’s Plans I had the worst case of glandular fever mixed with strep throat which definitely made it harder to record but we got there. I was in and out of the doctors and was admitted to hospital for a week or so. Hopefully it’s not noticeable on the record.

So you have a release tour coming up in May also, what venue are you most looking forward to playing?

There are a few venues I’m looking forward to hitting up but the EP release show on May the 11th should be a laugh ‘cos it’s a hometown show at Blue Line Studios in Bournemouth which is cosy as fuck. Sweaty times ahead I reckon.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Not sure to be honest with you. These a lot of great bands emerging at the moment. I’d love to do something with Like Pacific or Trophy Eyes, someone like that. Passionate vocals turn me on.

What is the music scene like in Bournemouth at the moment and what can bands like yourself do to make sure the likes of The Anvil stay open for years to come?

The scene in Bournemouth isn’t exactly thriving. That’s not to say that there aren’t a bunch of great bands AND venues; there are (Anvil included). It’s just people, it’s a pretty dead area to be honest ‘cos its all retirement housing and stuff. Been to some wild gigs down here though and you always get the nicest of people show up.

To keep the music scene alive, people just need to come down and have a good time ‘cos theres definitely no shortage of music down here. If you like a tune then check the band out live and have a laugh, you know.

What was the first ever gig you all attended?

Probably to see our mates in Buffalo Go a few years ago. Josh played bass for them once upon a time so we most likely all attended a shindig or two.

How have Common Ground Records helped you become the band you are today?

The girls at CGR are the nicest going and they could not be more supportive. They’ve flown across the world to see us play and that’s dedication. Like I say, they’re good people. We owe a lot to them.
