Interview: Leisure Tank talk latest single

Indie-rock power duo Leisure Tank recently returned with a punchy new single, Higher, out now via Goddamn Records.

Influenced by alternative, independent and analogue rock music of the last 50 years, Leisure Tank create raw, minimalistic rock with unpredictable song structures and heavy, danceable grooves. Higher combines K.C McKanzie’s dynamic vocal and energetic guitar riffs with Budi’s pulsating drum beats to create something both distinctive and undeniably catchy. Check out Higher below!

We managed to catch up with Leisure Tank as they talked about their latest single and more!

How has the release of Higher gone down so far with fans?

Pretty good! We got good reactions live and for the recorded track.

Can you tell us something about the track no one else knows?

There’s a keyboard in it that not many people can hear.

Will you be releasing an EP/single this year?

We would love to but can’t make any promises.

Will you be touring at all in 2018 or any festivals lined up?

We have been touring at the beginning of the year and will be making another round on autumn. We won’t play festivals this summer though.

What do you get up to in your spare time when not working on music?

Oh, is there something else one can do?
Budi, The drummer, likes hunting for vinyl and music books.
I myself like earplugs, cats, and books.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

I would like to have Ezra Koenigs voice on a song for pure selfish reasons: just want to hear his wonderful voice.
Budi would like to work with “The Band” but most members…aren’t alive anymore…..

What was the first gig you ever attended?

Lokal marching bands, my sister played flute in one, they were soooo loud, I loved it.
Budi remembers seeing English and French folk bands, aswell as Rock’n’Roll bands at their family holiday resort in France.

What inspired you to get into music in the first place?

I loved the background singers in TV music shows. I thought they had it made, getting all the fun, doing their little choreography by the mic stand in the back. They looked so happy and sung so well.
Budi heard Lonnie Donegan when he was 11 and got hooked on Skiffle and build himself a drumset out of washing powder packages.
