German progressive metallers Unprocessed have recently released new video Ghilan, taken from their latest album Covenant, released earlier this week via Long Branch Records.
Unprocessed are a progressive metal band hailing from Hessia’s central city Wiesbaden in Germany.
Founded in 2014, Unprocessed have shared the stage with Monuments, Betraying the Martyrs, Being as an Ocean, Napoleon and As they Burn, completed a full EU tour and played numerous shows in and around Germany, promoting their first releases In Concretion (2014) and Perception (2016).
Unprocessed’s sound features insanely fast palm muted, chugged guitar-riffs and shredding solos that meet soundscapes from another dimension, guttural vocals that are contrasted by lucid and melodic clean singing. A sharp bass tone and groovy, yet detail oriented drum-lines form a massive rhythm section and complete the bands overall sound. This mixture shows that this young band is ready to conquer the scene.
The band will be touring the UK around UK Tech-Metal Fest on 5 – 9 July 2018, dates to be announced soon. Check out Ghilan below!
We managed to catch up with the band as they talked about their latest album and more!
So how has the initial release of Covenant gone so far with fans?
David: It feels like right now we are connecting with a bigger audience through the new record We’re happy that so many people dig it so far!
What is your favourite track from the album?
David: That’s really tough to say but I’d choose Malleable because emotionally, its probably the most diverse plus it’s super fun to play!
Manu: Millenium, because my vision about this track was perfectly given when I was writing it and it turned out exactly how I wanted it to.
Can you tell something about the music video for Ghilan that no one else knows?
Manu: A fun fact about the video is that actually, my sister plays one of the three Ghilan.
David: The whole video is actually a product made by just the band and close friends of us which is a great thing. We had a lot of fun shooting it!
If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?
Manu: Probably Massive Attack. Not only because it would be interesting to work with a non-metal band, but also because these guys have always been a century ahead of their time, musically and production wise.
What was the first gig you ever attended?
Manu: For me it was Soulfly in 2006
David: The first one I remember is Green Day in 2011.
What inspired you to get into music in the first place?
David: My parents, definitely! They are both piano teachers and got me to play the keys really early when I was like three years old. These guys still inspire me with their passion to music!
Manu: Pretty much the same thing goes for me, but my parents directly got me into metal by playing Metallica, Maiden or Megadeth tapes in the car, at the same they introduced me to dark electronic stuff like Nine inch Nails, Massive Attack and Depeche Mode. That is also a reason for my approach on songwriting to date.
What’s the alternative music scene like in Germany at the moment?
David: Global players in the metal scene get good recognition when it comes to live-shows. Local shows, I must say have massively decreased in success and size of crowds which is a shame. I really hope this gets better again!
What do you get up to in your spare time when not working on music?
Manu: I have the privilege to just work on music and take my time for that.
David: Most of us have a full time Job, I for example work as a social media manager for a Universal Music unit in Berlin, living pretty far apart from the other guys, which forces me to also spend a lot of time in trains.
