So how pumped are you for your upcoming EP Primary?
I’m super excited for this EP! It’s been a long process getting all the pieces in place, but I’m really proud of what we created. I’m definitely ready to get it out there.
Can you tell us anything about his EP?
This EP is me in a nutshell. When we wrote this group of songs, I was at a crossroads in life. I was really trying to figure out what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go. These songs really captured that place I was in and directly and indirectly helped me find the answers to a lot of the looming questions I had at the time.
What is your favourite track from the upcoming release?
In Too Deep wasn’t written about me, it was written from the perspective of a friend of mine who was going through a rough time in a relationship. It was the first song we wrote for this EP and that was kind of the biggest thing on my mind at the time so that’s what I wanted to write about.
If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?
Jack Antonoff from Bleachers! I’m in love with him. He’s an incredible songwriter and I admire him so much. I’d love to work with him someday.
What do you get up to in your spare time when not working on music?
Well during the day, you’ll find me working as a barista at Starbucks! When I’m not doing that though, I’m typically working on my music which is like a whole other job in and of itself. When and if I have any spare time, I like to just try and relax.
How much are you looking forward to your EP release show at The Capitol Room?
I’m so excited, I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited for a show. It’s going to be a special night. We’ve been working so hard getting everything ready and it’s going to be a celebration with all my friends, family, and fans. I love all the bands that are playing that night and I can’t wait to share my album and set with everyone!
Will you be touring in 2018 at all or any festivals lined up?
I don’t have any tours confirmed just yet, but I know that there’s some cool opportunities popping up and a couple festival offers for the summer. I’m definitely excited to dig in and hit the road though.
What’s the alternative scene like in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania at the moment?
I’d say it’s pretty underground. It’s a relatively small scene but we’ve had a lot of successful artists and musicians come up out of here. I love that it’s big enough to do cool things but small enough that everyone knows everyone and we all work together and support each other which is really what it’s all about.
At just 18 years of age, what goals have you got in the music industry?
At this point, my goals are just to be able to support myself with music and be able to keep creating songs and share them with as many people as possible. Anything beyond that would be great and I’m sure my goals will change over time but I’m just taking it one step at a time.
