Interview: Black Palms talk debut single

Black Palms are an emerging three-piece rock band from London. They count Royal Blood, Lianne La Havas and Battles as influences and have taken London by storm with their unique brand of soulful epic rock. The trio spent their first year captivating audiences with their live shows and have now released a debut single Turned to Ash which you can download for free here.

The band consists of bassist and vocalist Bri Macanas, guitarist Chris Sarantis and drummer Tally Fathalla. Check out Turned to Ash  below!

We managed to catch up with the band as they talked about their debut single and more!

So how has the release of Turned to Ash gone down so far with fans?

Really well! The great thing we’ve found so far is that the response doesn’t seem biased towards fans of particular style; we’ve had metallers, indie kids and people into pop all keen which is great.

Can you tell something about the single on one else knows?

The chorus and verse vocal lines used to be the other way round originally.

Can you tell us anything about your upcoming EP?

Expect three other bangers in addition to a hidden gem; a longer-form more epic sounding track.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Dead Weather – just to hear Briony singing with Alison Mosshart!

Will you be touring at all in 2018 or any festivals lined up?

We’re being offered tons of new shows off the back of the ‘Turned To Ash’ release so watch this space!

If you could play at any venue in the world, where would it be and why?

Camden KOKO – seen so many excellent gigs there from really unusual bands, the sound is excellent and the venue has all these strange labyrinthine tunnels which give it a really unique feel.

What inspired you to get into music in the first place?

For me personally it was through my Greek cousin who grew up in NY and introduced me to everything from Black Sabbath to Public Enemy.

What was the first gig you ever attended?

My first ever gig was Cannibal Corpse at the old London Astoria 2!
