Live Review: We Are Scientists at Southampton’s Joiners

We Are Scientists

We Are Scientists and Lottery Winners performed in front of a packed out crowd to celebrate The Joiners’ 50th birthday. With their only being two bands performing on the night. Lottery Winners performed an excellent performance as they played tracks from their latest release Young Love and I Know. Signed to Warner Bros. Records, Thom Rylance, Robert Lally, Katie Lloyd and Joe Singleton all put in 110% for their set and certainly warmed up the crowd for We Are Scientists.

Lottery Winners

We managed to catch up with We Are Scientists’ Chris Cain and Keith Murray as they talked about The Joiners’ 50th birthday, latest music and more!

To a rapturous applause, squeezing through the packed crowd before taking the stage, the duo of Keith and Chris immediately set about casting their spell over the Joiners – by Lawrence Bath. Starting out with the classics, they quickly jumped in to the fan favourite of The Great Escape. The set continued in a similar style of new material alongside their wealthy back catalogue, with regular intervals for communication with the crowd – incredibly well received. There aren’t many bands who fill the Joiners to capacity and still make it such an evocative, personal affair. Without a doubt there wasn’t an unhappy face in the house, and Southampton welcomed the Indie Rock heavyweights with open arms.

The band played their latest single Your Light Has Changed on the night and played Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt to finish their set. They also came on for three songs for their encore which included Rules Don’t Stop, Impatience and Textbook. Overall it was a great night and We Are Scientists certainly celebrated The Joiners’ 50th birthday in style!
