We managed to catch up with the artist as he talked about his latest album and more!

So how has the release of Xenophilia gone down so far?

It’s been an amazing ride for the most part. While it is my second full album, it feels more like a first. I did a lot of things differently the second time around. One of the hardest things an indie artist will ever do is to get people to listen to their music. And there is a lot of scams out there that target artists such as paid plays which I’ll admit I did try but all that does is fluff your numbers and does not put cash in your pocket. Real listeners, real fans and real support is what works. Gaining 40k twitter followers is great but not if they aren’t engaged in what you are writing, remixing or producing.

Can you tell us something about the song, no one else knows?

now I definitely enjoy dropping easter eggs into my music. number references or a play on words or even a personal back story is always fun to incorporate. and xenophilia is no different.

One of the first songs mixed and named was house of saturn. It started the spacey theme that continued with enceladus (sixth largest moon of saturn) and the odyssey. The album title xenophilia people might relate to having sex with an alien, but it simply is defined as having an attraction to the unknown. Colony 479 is all about escape and is somewhat of an homage to the film blade runner. Off world colony 479, I can get us there in plenty of time and you won’t have to pack a thing. There’s more in there as well. lot of things interlinked within cells interlinked. ?

What is your favourite track on the album?

That’s a tough question. I do like the odyssey quite a bit due to that tasty lead synth and the fairlight sounds combined with a little chunk guitar. but I also love the vocal work voxlucis did in all along. And the complexities within friend. ll good tracks.

If you could work with any band in the world on a new song, who would it be and why?

Another great/tough question. if I had to pick a single band/artist to work with, it would be awesome to work with depeche mode. they have survived throughout the new wave and alternative and all the electronic genres, it would be interesting to see what we could come up with. mode is one of my major influences.

How has your tour gone down so far?

No tour was planned for this release. Will I ever play xeno live? That is a definite possibility. But unknown at the time.

What do you get up to in your spare time while not working on music?

I am usually either watching movies, writing poetry, drawing on my iPad or playing something on the PS4.

What was your first gig you ever attended?

My first gig was back in 1993 at an open mic at the presidio at monterey in northern california. I think
I was just doing covers. after that, I played a show with mechanemesis at the carmel rec center as corpsegrinder.

Will you be touring at all in 2018 or any festivals line up?

Unfortunately nothing currently planned but writing more music. There’s a project coming up featuring voxlucis titled sirenaut that is a concept spun from the xeno songs astronaut, the siren and the siren reprise.
