Interview: Ducking Punches talk latest album!

Ducking Punches – finally release their eagerly awaited fourth album Alamort via the Xtra Mile Recordings label last month.

And fans of the band all across the UK won’t have to wait long to see Alamort performed in their own neck of the woods, as Dan Allen’s East Anglian punk rock rabble plot an extensive run of UK tour dates for the Spring. Hitting the road throughout April, the quartet will be taking their latest work to a total of 15 towns and cities near you, including Bristol, Brighton, Bolton, Leeds, Liverpool, Kings Lynn and beyond. You can check out Distant Shadows below!

We managed to catch up with the band as they talk about their latest album and more!

How has the response of Alamort been so far?

It’s been astounding so far, we really a little apprehensive upon release because of the change in sound but everyone is backing us on this one.

What is your favourite track from the album?

With Unfounded Hope

Can you tell something about the album no ones else knows?

The artwork is intentionally in colour, the other full band albums are all black and white. This is to signify the more electric sound and change in lineup.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

The Cure, they’re my favourite band in the world and their arrangement and songwriting is perfect. No one comes close. Although lyrically I’d like to work with Craig Finn from the Hold Steady or John K. Samson.

How were your recent album launch shows in Norwich and London?

They were some of the best shows we’ve ever played.

What venue are you most looking forward to playing on your album release tour?

A38 in Budapest, it’s a giant ship that floats on the Danube. It’s the best fun.

How have the guys at Xtra Mile Recordings helped you become the band you are today?

XMR are a family, a support system and friends. They’re with us every step of the way and their sheer hard work and belief in us makes us push ourselves to be the best band we can be.

What was the first ever gig you attended?

Hot Water Music.
