Launching from Norwich, pop-punks Crossing The Limits recently announced that their debut EP entitled Perseverance will be self-released on 6th April 2018.
Now available for streaming, is the quintet’s bright and infectiously catchy debut single Won’t Settle.
The band consists of vocalist Rachael Holland, Tom Colmans and Dan Smith on guitar, Tim Clements on bass and Ben Brennan on drums.
With the line-up complete, the members set about writing material, drawing upon lessons they had learned over the past year however not all of the songs made the cut. The EP consists of topics of the heartbreak of a first love and loss of friendship. Perseverance was recorded at Steel City Studios with Drew Lawson and it was mastered by Grant Berry at Fader. We managed to catch up with the band as they talk about their upcoming EP and more!
So how pumped are you for the release of Perseverance?
We’re extremely pumped for the release of Perseverance! It feels like it’s taken forever to be able to release our music, we really spent the last year building everything up from the ground. We started doing YouTube covers as we didnt want to just throw music out there. We wanted to be happy with everything and do it all the right way. To finally see a date of release makes the wait feel so worth it for us. We’re really proud of the songs on this EP.
Can you tell us something about the album no one else knows?
Won’t Settle was my least favourite song before hitting the studio. I was so adamant on it not being on the EP, but they boys were all about it and I was out voted. But when we took it to Drew Lawson he made it great, he gave it that spark that it was missing. Now it’s one of my favourite songs on the EP and it ended up being the first single haha! I’m glad the boys stood strong by that song.
What is your favourite track from the album?
I think all of us are agreed that a song called “Reverse” is our favourite. It’s really intense, and lyrically I got a lot off of my chest with that one. That song has really set the bar for writing new songs. It’s by far the best song we’ve written and we love playing it Live.
How has the release of Won’t Settle gone down with fans?
Really well! We’re really happy people are enjoying it. We love seeing screenshots of people listening to it, one person said they had it stuck in their head all day, so I guess that’s a good thing! People have been really nice about it.
If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?
Don Broco or Pvris would be cool, just because they’re both heavier than us. It’d be interesting to see what we could do together.
Will you be touring at all in support of the upcoming EP?
Yeah we will! We are currently looking into booking some dates around the UK. We plan to be playing a lot of shows this year and we love doing that! Our first headliner will be at Norwich Waterfront on April 20th, we cannot wait.
What was the first gig you all attended?
If you mean together, we all watched Against The Current when
we opened for them last year in Norwich, that was one of our first major shows as a band. The whole night was great. I feel like Demi Lovato when she got asked what dish is her favourite and she described a bowl haha! I hope that’s the answer you were looking for.
What do you get up to in your spare time when not working on music?
A lot of the time we’re doing something related to music, whether it be going to a show or seeing what our favourite bands are up to. Other than that we annoy each other on WhatsApp, hang out with friends and eat a lot of food. Dan likes to party, he’s always at a party!
What’s the alternative music scene like in Norwich at the moment?
I’d say it’s pretty good, there’s a lot of alternative rock bands about
and there are some great venues around here like the Waterfront, Epic Studios, and The Owl Sanctuary to go see them! I’d say there are few pop/punk bands though, we need more pop/punk bands.
