Corrosium, a five-piece groove metal newcomer from Helsinki, Finland has released a new single called Stars from their upcoming debut album, Butterfly Effect.
A spectacular music video directed by Samppa Fjäder / Krey Production was shot to accompany the release.
The single is also released in all major streaming services.
The band just returned from touring the Baltics supporting Swedish metalcore phenomena Beneath My Feet and promoting the March 10th release of the album. Check out Stars below!
We managed to catch up with the band as they talk about their latest single, upcoming album and more!
So how has the release of Stars gone down so far?
TPZ: Actually the release of Stars has gone down very well, the feedback has been positive. Since we are a new band, which nobody knows about, people have been surprised about the sound and the quality of the production. Also the music video we filmed for this single had a quite tight schedule and that too turned out to be way better than expected.
Can you tell something about the single nobody knows?
TPZ: Well the Stars single is the first official release from our debut album. Prior to this, we released the “Butterfly Effect” single unofficially at the end of last summer just for promotional purposes. The Stars single is not something nobody knows about, the video has been getting quite a lot of views in YouTube and in Facebook, which again was quite surprising in a way, because we never really planned on releasing anything officially but then all of a sudden we found ourselves creating a band, starting a promo tour, scheduling an album release, filming a few videos and all sorts of things which belong to this band thing.
Can you tell something about your debut album?
TPZ: It took a few years to complete the album because as I said, we were never supposed to do an album. It was just a couple of guys in the studio with spare time to make the music we have always wanted to make. It was January one or two years ago when I called to our guitarist Jonesy that the songs we have made were too good to be thrown into oblivion. He agreed, and we had no other option than to finalize the tracks and make an album out of it. And here we are now, releasing the album.
What’s the alternative music scene like in Helsinki?
TPZ: Music Scene in alternative and Metal is quite good, there are lots of places you can play, small and big venues and there are a lot of good bands especially in metal.
If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?
OLLI: I personally would love to collaborate with Corey Taylor. He has such a unique and rocking voice and composing skills that any song would be great with his touch.
Will you be releasing new music in 2018?
TPZ: We will be releasing our debut album March 10th. I’m proud to say that we are going to release three new music videos to accompany the album release. These videos will be released as a so called video EP, a continuous story consisting of these three videos. It’s going to be awesome! I’m very excited about the project.
Outside of a debut album, we probably are not going to release any new music, but we must start composing the second album later this year. We already have plenty of ideas for the second album… But let’s wait and see what happens with the debut first.
Will you be touring at all or any festivals lined up for 2018?
TPZ: We will definitely be touring during the year. We are planning to put together an another European tour at the end of 2018 and in the summer we’ll be doing a couple of local gigs in Finland and in Baltics. The last Baltic tour we did at the end of January 2018, with swedish metalcore band “Beneath My Feet”, was an awesome trip!
What was the first gig you all attended?
TPZ: We all have been doing music and gigs for a long time, but the first gig we all attended as a band, was in January this year in Riga, Latvia. Of course, that was a huge risk to take, but I was convinced that we were all such a professionals, that the tour would be a success which It was…
What do you all get up to in your spare time when not making music?
TPZ: Most of our lives is built around music, we play in several different bands, spend our time in studio, doing live sounds, lights, driving bus, what have you, but of course we all have some spare time off music. I spend mine repairing old cars and motorcycles, fixing the house etc.
OLLI: I binge watch series, immerse myself in video games and try to go to the gym when not doing the former two.
