Interview: Elm Tree Circle talk upcoming album

Elm Tree Circle is a four-piece Emo Pop-Punk band from Germany and recently signed to KROD Records. Over the last few years, the band has been engaged in extensive touring playing numerous shows across Europe up to Asia and abroad, sharing the stage with such iconic acts as The Ataris, Pears and Such Gold. After a successful 2017 including tours through Australia, Japan, Europe and the UK the band is now looking forward to their most significant year so far. Alongside the release of their first full length album The Good Life, the band will for the first time embark on a tour featuring their full line-up, serving everyone, form English breakfast tea drinkers to Swiss fondue fanatics with an exquisite menu of handcrafted songs.

Set to release on the 11th of May 2018 through KROD Records The Good Life is a lovely piece of modern emo-punk. The band has evolved towards a style that inherits all the classic influences of their 2000s pop-punk heroes paired with a good touch of emotional lyrics, melancholic chords and distinct vocal lines that spin in your head after the first listen.Check out Feel The Burn below from the upcoming album.

We managed to catch up with the band as they talk about singing with KROD Records, upcoming album and more!

So how proud are you signing for Krod Records?

Very proud. A lot of our good friends are or used to put out music with KROD so it feels like we are coming home.

How has the initial release of Feel The Burn gone so far?

Pretty amazing. We were pretty surprised when we realised that our song is on Spotify’s „New Punk Tracks“ playlist which features some of our favorite bands and had about 77K listeners.

Can you tell us something about the track no one else knows?

We used to spell it Feel the Bern cause it was meant to be a Bernie Sanders love song. Turned out kinda dark, haha!

How pumped are you for your upcoming album The Good Life?

Pretty stoked since we took almost a year to find a partner like KROD that we felt confident with. The Good Life is our first baby as a band and we are blinded by love. It’s gonna be excited to see if other people feel the same way about it.

Can you tell us anything about this release?

It’s a full length heartbreak procedure. You’re taken through all the crazy stages chronologically. Let’s see how you feel at the end.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Phil Collins cause we think his voice would work really well with our tune. But seriously, it would be rad to records with his drumkit. It has more toms than some drummers have teeth.

Have you got any festival or tours lined up for 2018?

The official The Good Life Tour starts in the UK in May and ends somewhere in Germany in June after visiting Switzerland and a couple other places on the way. Before and after we’ll also be playing shows every now and then including some Festivals like the legendary Booze Cruise in Hamburg in June. In the near future we have a show with the great Not On Tour from Israel as well as Abandoned by Bears from Sweden.

Is the alternative scene as strong in Germany as it always been?

Surprisingly it seems like it’s growing stronger and stronger the longer we’ve been playing as a band. But could also seem that we’re just getting to know it better the more we come around and meet awesome people from all over the place that work their asses off to put on sick shows for no-name bands in their local scene.

What do you get up to in your spare time when not working on music?

We are film fanatics so if we don’t record music we are usually producing film in some way. If it’s live music sessions in our home studio called the Rad Room or music videos for our friends and us. Feel free to check out our short film / split music video for „Unleaded“ that we did with our friends of EARL GREY.
