Team Picture Share New Single ‘(I Have a) Little Secret’

Leeds-based six-piece, Team Picture have today shared their new single, (I Have a) Little Secret which is released through their own Big Dumb Music label – you can listen to the single below!

Produced by Matt Peel (previously Eagulls, Autobahn and Pulled Apart By Horses) at The Nave in Leeds, the sugarcoated new single follows the band’s previous cuts which include Birthday Blues, Back To Bay Six and Potpourri Headache. Team Picture will return to the live fray performing as part of DIY’s ‘Hello 2018’ showcase on January 23, 2018 at The Old Blue Last, London.

(I Have a) Little Secret progresses from the band’s previous releases – whilst maintaining their knack for penning impressive hooks and pursuing sonic experimentation, the band also turn their head to a sea of new influences and sounds. The freshly attuned pop sensibility etched throughout (I Have a) Little Secret pays homage to the likes of The Cure, synth-wave revivalists, Black Marble and Lower Dens as new synthetic textures propel the  band’s more orthodox vibrant soundscapes.

Speaking about the track, guitarist Josh says: ‘We really resonate with the sincerity and enduring relevance of pop music from the 70’s and 80’s, and the ability of so many bands from this period to transcend genre and remain influential. We wanted to celebrate that, and maybe shed some of the grungier associations we’ve previously collected.# Josh continues, “Once the synth bass was on there, Matt [Peel] was like ‘okay, how poppy/80’s do we want to get here?” and I think at some point we decided to go completely balls-to-the-wall and make it as joyous as possible.’

Since forming in 2016, Team Picture have earned praise at BBC Introducing and secured multiple spins at 6Music with support from Huw Stephens, Tom Robinson and Steve Lamacq, as well as ticking off support slots with the likes of Parquet Courts, Psychic Ills, The Orielles and Ulrika Spacek. In addition, the band have performed at the likes of Bluedot Festival (along with Warpaint and the Pixies), the Wire-curated Drill Festival and Manchester’s Neighbourhood Festival, as well as selling out their own curated ‘Du The Katman’ night at Leeds’ Hyde Park Book Club. A full UK headline tour along with festival dates are to be announced shortly.
