Original Rock’s 2017 Review

There have been lots of highs and lows in the world of music in 2017 so here at OriginalRock.net we thought we’d summarise in our annual review what we think made this year even more memorable.

January

Liverpool pop punks released their debut album Red, Green or Inbetween on 20th January. The debut album was an asset to pop-punk music and produced the brilliant Lonely Smiles.

February

American punks Energy released their official lyric music video for The Witching Hour on 23rd February and went on to tour with Creeper, Milk Teeth and Puppy in what was their first ever UK tour.

We caught up with The Big Moon’s Celia Archer as she talked about their album The Big Moon Love in the 4th Dimension, hobbies and more!

Teddy Rocks Festival took place in Blandford Forum in what was the festival’s biggest year yet. It brought the likes of Twin Atlantic, Modestep, Patent Pending and more. The festival raised more than £70,000 for Teddy20, a children’s cancer charity founded by The Bottom Line’s Tom Newton and his family after he lost his 10-year-old brother Ted to a very rare bone cancer.

Slam Dunk Festival 2017 was arguably their best festival yet with the likes of I Prevail, Enter Shikari and Neck Deep among the bands playing there.

Alternative pop/rock outfit Radnor revealed their Spotify playlist for OriginalRock.net

twenty one pilots’ Stressed Out reached one billion views and counting. The duo have been teasing new music this year and are likely to reveal something in 2018.

And…

Austria’s Nova Rock provided one of the line ups of 2017 with the likes of Green Day, Blink 182, System of a Down, A Day To Remember and one of Linkin Park’s last ever performance with the late great Chester Bennington.

2000 Trees Festival saw the likes of Nothing But Thieves, The Xcerts and more. Once again the festival showed why it’s one of the best in the UK.

Welsh Pop Punks Neck Deep released their album The Peace and the Panic that included glorious pop punk tracks such as Parachute and In Bloom.

Bestival provided a wet and windy atmosphere as the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Rag ‘N’ Bone Man and Twin Atlantic to the stage at the new location of the Lulworth Estate.
