Single Review: Main Grains – Rain is Over

Ex-Wildhearts and Yo-Yo Danny McCormack’s MAIN GRAINS return with a brand new single ‘Rain Is Over’. The marching (“Back when was I was younger“) intro gives way to Danny’s familiar motoring Bassline and his strangely captivating half spoken, half sung singing style. The song has all the right ingredients for mainstream Rock Radio, its quick, catchy and after one or two listens you’ll be drumming on the steering wheel while singing along with the chorus. The same can also be said for ‘What Are We Gonna Do Now’ which draws on a plethora of Rock ‘N’ Roll styles including the stunningly simplistic “na-ne-na-ne-na-ne,na-now” line which seeps its way into your musical memory bank. The Third and final track is the ultra-repetitive ‘Sock It To Me Baby’ which crashes and crunches through the Britrock gears. The Main Grains have been through a lot in the last 12-18 months including Danny’s various and serious medical issues. This release is a testament to their spirit, fight and talent, hopefully, brighter skies await, they deserve it.
