Live Review: Brutus at The Dome Tufnell Park

Belgium three piece BRUTUS are building an ever-growing fan base here in the UK and it’s easy to see why – By Guy Shankland. Their debut album ‘Burst’ is a prime slice of beautifully crafted Punk laced Speed Metal and the band have backed their debut release up with a series tornado-esque live performances. Tonight they only have a measly thirty minutes to impress and that they do, in spades. ‘March’, ‘Horde 11’ and the atmospheric ‘Julia’ grab the healthy sized crowds undivided attention. ‘Drive’ is a truly stunning highlight of both the album and live set. It has the capacity to crack the skull, attack the senses and shake the internal organs with a roller coaster adrenalin fuelled buzz. ’Child’ is followed by the breathtaking single ’All Alone’ which continually pounds the ears until you submit to its multi-layered, brutal charms. Brutus are a genuine breath of fresh air and once inhaled they are the musical equivalent of cherry nicotine, delicious, dangerous, and highly, highly addictive.
