The Sherlocks recently entertained a packed Southampton crowd at The 1865 on Thursday (21st September) as it was a night to remember for all that attended. First up on the night was Eyes in the Skies and they were the perfect crowd pleaser. The Southsea band played their debut single Don’t among many others and they were really engaging with the crowd. The band has the sound of Spring King along with the energy of The Fratellis – certainly a band to watch for the future.
Next up was Southampton band Costellos and they played the likes of Keep on Lying, their latest single, which really had a positive reaction from the crowd. The indie rock outfit had an almost Oasis style to their act and their stage presence was like they were headlining.
Finally, the headliners took the stage and before they did, their walk on track was the instrumental version of White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army and the crowd chanted ‘Oh Jeremy Corbyn’ until they walked on. The Sherlocks are that kind of band that you know you will get at 110% from them and they certainly lived up to their hype. There were plenty of mosh pits on the night as well as fans jumping up and down. They opened on Last Night that was a real anthem and with the likes of Blue and Turn The Clock being played on the night, fans were in for a real treat.
They played songs from their debut album Live For The Moment. There was an insane moshpit for Was It Really Worth It. Their song Motions had a hint of Green Day’s Peacemaker although the vocals were completely different and I have to admit it was my favourite song of the night. Lead singer Kiaran Crook then started to go solo with his acoustic guitar which was a really intimate moment for everyone at the venue. The band finished on Chasing Shadows that made everyone sing in the crowd. In fact the after the set the majority of the fans singing it outside their dressing room which the band acknowledged. Overall it was a great night and before the Sherlocks set we managed to catch up with Josh Davidson, Andy Davidson, Brandon Crook and Kiaran for an interview as they talk about the tour, debut album and more!
