Freak announces new EP

Fresh from storming the summer festivals, from Dot To Dot to Reading & Leeds, Chelmsford noise merchant FREAK aka Connar Ridd announces a new 4-track EP. Titled No Money, No Honey, Shit Job, Not Funny and set for release on Friday 8th September via FREAK Recordings / Polydor, the EP includes recent single No Money along with three brand new tracks, and will be available digitally and on limited edition 10’’ vinyl.
‘I made this EP for £34 in my bedroom using cheap gear from eBay. I locked myself away for 3 months to write a load of tracks, most of which I didn’t use. I was waking up everyday in my house and going straight into recording. A week before vinyl pressing we had to change the artwork because I was told if we used the original image I would’ve been sued for putting my face on a £10, so you learn something new everyday. I’m so happy it’s now out there, I can’t wait to start playing the new tunes live on tour.’ – FREAK
No Money, which sees the 20 year-old bemoan the boredom and frustration of a 9 to 5 existence, has just been added to the BBC Radio 1 Introducing playlist from today, 1st September, following support from the likes of Huw Stephens and Daniel P Carter at Radio 1, A List rotation at Amazing Radio and plays from Radio X. The EP is completed by snarling, nihilistic punk jam ‘I Don’t’, spiky ode to agoraphobia ‘Look Away’ and groove-laden stomper ‘Darling, Is Your Head Right?’
Following support slots with Sundara KarmaBad SoundsINHEAVEN and Black Honey, FREAK has also just announced a September co-headline tour with raucous Londoners King Nun, taking in Nottingham, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester and culminating in a London show at Boston Music Room in Tufnell Park. Tickets for the tour are on sale now.
