itoldyouiwouldeatyou release new music

Ahead of their headline run of shows around the UK (starting Tuesday) and first trip as a band to mainland Europe; itoldyouiwouldeatyou have unveiled a new song.

Following the acclaimed release of their EP I Am Not Your Fault in September of last year, the now 6-piece band returns with “Divine Violence” – a rollercoaster track, bringing together all the ensemble’s influences into a 3 minute 22 flurry unlike anything they’ve released before.

Josh See’s intricate guitar tapping leads the track, quickly joined by Sean Westall’s lively melodic drumming. As vocalist Joey Ashworth’s signature mix of sass, cynicism and catchy-as-heck melodies joins the mix the track really comes into its own; lyrically tackling identity, sexuality, the state of politics and having a no-tolerance attitude to bullshit. The track closes with an explosive outro – with the band for the first time brandishing their post-hardcore leanings.

The song is itoldyouiwouldeatyou’s most ambitious to date, and an exciting indication of the new direction they’re headed for with their new material
