Interview: Creature talk latest single

Newcastle grunge rockers Creature recently released their new single Bored . For fans of Mudhoney and AllUsOnDrugs, the band have had their debut single aired on BBC Introducing in Newcastle, going down a storm, and the band are hoping that new single Bored  is going to turn a few more heads. Check out the single below.

How has the release of Bored gone down so far with fans?

So far it seems to be going down really well, we’re getting lots of positive feedback.

Can you tell us a bit about the single?

It’s fast, aggressive and we loved writing and recording it. It’s relatively simple as well, which means we can put in a lot of energy and let loose live.

Will there be an EP/Album on the way?

Yes actually, we’ve got recording lined up the next few months for an EP probably around October time

Have you guys got any live shows coming up?

We’re very exited to be part of the Little Buildings show for NARC. Fest alongside some other fantastic bands, we’re really pleased to have been included in something so exciting. It’s going to be very loud and messy.

What does it mean to you being supported by BBC Introducing?

It’s a good benchmark, we feel like we must be doing something right.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Personally for me (Crammond, bassist), it would have to be ’68 or WHORES. They’ve both got an amazing noise-based sound and really fits with the sound of some stuff we’ve been writing recently.

What was the first gig that you ever attended?

First gig I ever attended was Slipknot at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle. They were touring for All Hope Is Gone which was just fantastic to see live, and the supports were outstanding. They had Machine Head, touring off the back of The Blackening which was just intense, and Children of Bodom who put on a hell of a set to start the night.

What’s the alternative scene like in Newcastle?

The alternative scene in Newcastle is fantastic. It really feels like everyone’s trying to get everyone they can involved to make it into something even more special but every gig is just great, people show up and love being there no matter who’s playing. Some of the bands mixing with the metal scene really helps bring people together too.

What has been your proudest moment as a band so far?

Proudest moment as a band for me, would have to be either first hearing our first single, Why Not a Disney Princess, back after it was mastered and knowing it came out just as good if not better than I thought it would, or our recent gig playing in the 2nd semi-final of Newcastle’s Metal 2 the Masses. We were on last after being there for hours and hours in sweltering heat and just getting up there and leaving absolutely everything on stage felt incredible, especially with the crowd loving it as much as we did.
