Introducing Bristol based alternative rock quartet White Noise Radio who will release their new EP Cosmos on July 1st 2017.
The band revealed their first single release to be taken from the forthcoming EP earlier this week. New single Dawning is jam packed full of rollercoaster riffs and a huge chorus for fans of Incubus and Karnivool. You can listen to the single now below.
The band’s new EP ‘Cosmos’ has a really distinctive character, more so than the band’s debut. Each track is easy to get into and there’s plenty of intricate, nuanced songwriting that reveals more depth upon each listen. You’ll love it on the first listen, and the deeper you dig the more you find!
We managed to catch up with the band as they talked about the latest single, EP and more!
How has the release of ‘Dawning’ gone so far with fans?
Really well, people like it a lot – we can’t wait to follow it up with the video, which is coming out soon.
Can you tell us anything about the single?
Yeah, it’s a song about everyday loneliness and isolation, but also the knowledge that there’s always hope for tomorrow. It was actually the first song we wrote for the record, and it came together really quickly!
Can you tell us anything about your upcoming EP Cosmos?
We came at this record from a different angle: we wanted the release to have it’s own character and identity, so we worked really closely with our producer George Lever from start to finish. Because he’s been a constant influence throughout the process, the EP feels really tied together and solid all the way through.
How pumped are you be releasing this in July?
Like you wouldn’t believe! We’re always looking to evolve as a band, and this release is a definite step up for us. It’ll be great to show everyone what we’ve been working so hard on and get back out on the road.
If you could work with any band on an new song, who would it be and why?
Ooh . . . it’s got to be Porcupine Tree, I think. Steven Wilson puts his stamp on everything he does and it’d be amazing to hear what we come out with together. A close second would definitely be Karnivool, but they’re in such a unique space it would be hard to merge our sound with theirs!
What has been your most memorable moment while recording the EP?
We tracked the drums at Middle Farm Studios in Devon, following in the footsteps of Periphery and Black Peaks (Karnivool producer Forrester Savell had also been there recently working on a new record). That was such a phenomenal space to work in, and it was such a great experience; very few unsigned bands get to record in places like that, so it was a real privilege.
Will there be a tour at all to coincide the release of the EP?
There will indeed! Dates are still TBA, so visit www.whitenoiseradio.rocks or follow us on Twitter (@WNR_Band) for news of where and when we’re playing.
What’s the alternative scene like in Bristol?
Pretty unique, actually. It feels like there’s a real alternative community in Bristol, which is rare to find – the only place like it I can think of is Brighton. Unfortunately the alt scene really focussed on the famous Stag & Hounds, which closed its doors just this weekend – it went out with a hell of a bang, though!
What has been the proudest moment so far in the band?
That has to be placing runner-up in the Underdog Battle of the Bands in 2015. That was our first real year together, and competing against 49 other bands across a whole summer was amazing; the fact that we actually won 2nd prize and got to track our debut EP at Sawmills Studio (Muse, Stone Roses, Oasis) was a brilliant reward for a lot of hard work.
What was the first gig you ever attended?
That would have to be Trivium at the Southampton Guildhall! Bloody loved it, and God Forbid were supporting too, who kicked ass.
