Interview: Everyone & Anyone

Everyone and Anyone are a five piece pop punk band from North Wales, UK. Formed during the summer of 2014 the band are known for their energetic live performances and have supported the likes of Creeper, Wstr and done their own touring up and down the country. In 2016 they recorded their debut EP at Stakeout Studios (As It Is, You Me At Six, Fightstar) which received airtime and acclaim from BBC Radio. They are now preparing to release their second EP A Page From a Journal on June 16th. Check out Apathy from the band below!

We managed to catch up with the lads as they talked about the upcoming EP and more!

So how pumped are you for the release of ‘A Page From A Journal?

Beyond pumped! It’s been a while since we put new music out so it’ll be cool to show everyone what we’ve been working on. It’s gonna be cool to add the new songs to our live set too, when we first started practising the new songs we felt like they all came really naturally and it all flows with the older stuff real well too. The excitement is real!

Can you tell us anything about the EP?

There’s a lyric in one of the new songs (Coffee and Contemplation) that’s like “fuck it I’ll be alright” and that’s basically the whole vibe of the EP. It’s got a much more positive outlook than the first EP had and it’s basically all about finding the silver lining.

What is your favourite song from the record?

It kinda constantly changes but right now it’s probably Yearbook. We’ve been rehearsing the new songs for our live set and the second half of that track in particular sounds huge live! But then Page From a Journal is a contender too for me lyrically because I’ve never really written about the upsides of a relationship before so that’s pretty cool

What was it like recording your EP at Stakeout Studios knowing the likes of You Me At Six has recorded there?

It was sick! That was the first time we ever properly recorded together so there was definitely some pressure but only really pressure that we put on ourselves. I’m really proud that we did that though like this tiny little band from this little place in North Wales going off to London to record we felt like the fellowship taking the ring to mordor or some shit haha but yeah we learnt a lot from that and when we recorded this new EP with Dann Stewart from Bezombie Productions in Edinburgh we were much more relaxed.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

That’s a really tough one because there’s so many. I know myself and Gary would definitely say working with Jerry Finn would’ve been a dream come true! Personally I’d really like to work with James Bourne that dude is like the master of the melody

What was your funniest moment while recording the EP?

We were literally 40 seconds into a 6 hour drive to the studio and Gary, out of nowhere, pulled out a harmonica (in the key of C for anyone wondering) and proceeded to butcher every song you have ever heard in your life. The plot thickens though and we’ll have a video uploaded to our social media soon documenting how it all escalated so keep an eye out for that!

Will there be a tour to coincide the release of the EP?

Yeah we’re currently booking shows to celebrate it and all the dates will be on our social media as soon as we have them locked in

What is the pop punk scene like in North Wales?

Really locally in the seaside town we live in we’ve always kinda been the odd ones out in terms of the type of music we play so we don’t really play there much but a little further up the road from us in Wrexham there’s a really cool pop punk scene. Reckless Promotions bring a lot of sick bands through and they always hook us up with killer shows there and they’re great to work with. The people that come to the shows in Wrexham are really sound, it’s always a good vibe!

What were your first gigs that you went to?

My first real show was The Fratelli’s in Manchester Academy which was a bit of an odd one with a surprisingly aggressive crowd! Gary’s first was Blink-182 but his favourite show was hands down when he saw the wonder years play the upsides live. Scott’s first was Bloc Party in Llandudno and it’s still one of his favourites to date. Mikey’s first was definitely the coolest/most insane, he saw Bring Me The Horizon and Deez Nuts in Central Station in Wrexham and spent a good chunk of it helping hold Oli on top of the crowd by his foot which is pretty cool
