Alternative rock band Inertia are set to release their LP The Process on 2nd June. The southern California outfit have extreme metal roots and was formed from guitar player Zack Harris and vocalist Dillon Forst joining together to create a new flavor of sound found absent in their local rock music scene. With influences like Thrice, Corelia, Bring Me The Horizon, Circa Survive, and more, Inertia is poised to bring a big sound to the rock music scene and aims to start touring regularly on a national level. Check out the band’s single Guilty Crown below!
We caught up with the band as they talked about the upcoming album and more!
So how pumped are you for the release of ‘The Process’?
Pumped is an understatement. We have been preparing this album for over 3 years. We really wanted to create a spectacle with this release and give our audience one of the best Alternative Rock/ Post Hardcore Albums to date. The kind of record that can be enjoyed from start to finish and leave our listeners with an impression of increase.
Can you tell us anything about the release?
The Album was recorded by ourselves in our home studios. The mix and mastering of the record was done by Danny Cullman. Originally the album was meant to have a lot more screaming, but later we decided to remove all the screaming except for at the end of our song “ Guilty Crown “ . Alt Rock/ Metal with all singing was our primary goal when writing this record.
Will there be a tour at all this year to coincide this?
Yes , we are planning 2 tours for this year. One West Coast Primarily between August / September and another Tour in December. More details on that will come with time.
How has the video for ‘Hello Everyone’ gone so far?
The video gave us a chance to introduce ourselves and what our band is about. I think we’re starting to create a positive impression on the scene, but it’s too soon to say.
If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?
We would love to work with Devin Oliver from I See Stars and Oliver Sykes from Bring Me The Horizon. We’ve had the pleasure of working with Nicholas Mathews from Get Scared, Seth Cooper from Secret Eyes and Jonny Craig from Slaves/Emarosa/Isles & Glaciers etc to perform guest vocals on some Alternate Versions of our songs. We will release these on our Deluxe album release of this record later in the year. Because of this, we fill Devin and or Oliver would be a good fit for what we hope to be a definitive hallmark in Alternative Rock and Post Hardcore music.
What was the funniest moment while recording your upcoming release?
Thats tough to say. Zachary and I ( Dillon Forst ) are such goof offs during the writing process. We find comforts in our pass times of choice, laughing at youtube videos etc. I think the funniest moments are when we sing along to our favorite songs with a Scott Stahp ( Front Man of Creed ) voice or vocal style. It’s the funniest thing in the world to us.
What do you get up to in your spare time outside the band?
We play video games, smoke, get tattoos , learn new instruments, and every now and again try to tackle a modern day problem in society and do our best to help solve it. We do the regular every day stuff with just a dash of extraordinary .
What was your first gig that you ever attended?
The Ventura Majestic Theatre , I can’t remember the name of the bands, but the headliner opened up with the theme song from Harry Potter. It was amazing. – Dillon Forst
What is the music scene like in California?
Its better than I can ask for , but it depends where you are at in California. Some places can be easy to have sold out events. Others, tough to get 30 people to come to a show. The music scene is watching , waiting and longing to explode. Sometimes it does explode, but for a continued growth, I think it will start with building a stronger, more kind community of people, fans and musicians. Set differences aside and come together for the music. Thats my vision for the California music scene. I think in many ways its already there. California has so much to offer with music and I think were about to offer a whole lot more.
