Hailing from Santa Cruz, CA, Austin Shaw is a singer-songwriter whose songs are glowing with warmth, intricate layers and honest emotion. Featuring catchy guitar hooks and soul-baring lyrics his new EP is due out on March 10th, followed by a full-length album coming this summer.
The upcoming EP is comprised of selections from his forthcoming album Felt, filled with heartfelt songs that weave a blend of melodic soul-searching, and story-telling. The songs will take you on a journey through relationships with a backdrop of energetic rock bombast, and soulful melodies. The EP kicks in with a very personal, opener, Citrine, which is sharply infectious. Essentially it’s a story about a daughter losing her father at a far too early age. Something I endured and watched my family struggle with/through.’ says Shaw.  The song I’ve Been Leaning is a deeply felt, soul-searching melodic blend.
The title track Felt crafts an honest and uplifting spirit with its chiming guitar lines and impressive vocal delivery. Shaw says, It’s about meeting your soul-mate and knowing it just by the feel of it. Even before you get to know them, you just know. ‘Love on Both Sides will pull at your heartstrings, but in a ‘long live romance’ kind of way.

On the upcoming album, FELT, Shaw delivers a cohesive body of work that would be the envy of any new artist. Produced by Robert L. Smith (Defy Recordings), the album will also feature the talents of guitarist Robert Saltzman (Paul Simon), drummer Joe Bonadio (Sting), bassist Malcolm Gold and vocalist Clara Lofaro.
Many of the songs are autobiographical and some are just from experiences we’ve all had throughout life.
‘Hopefully my songs can be a breeze that blows back the curtain and give one a glimpse into a window in time or an experience in life. It’s all about love, loss, heartbreak, rebirth and renewal,’ explains Shaw.
