Reading is a hotbed of musical talent, and 2017 see’s the rise of The Final Clause Of Tacituswith a brand new EP Peace In Chaos. The Final Clause Of Tacitus meld the worlds of The Red Hot Chilli Peppers with Rage Against The Machine; to ignore these influences would be a mistake as the band are taking the best of both worlds and launching themselves headfirst into the fray. Bringing together rap, metal & funk into one tight package, Peace In Chaos will be released on 24th February.
The band have put together a release trailer for Peace In Chaos which offers fans and people who are new to the band alike a chance to hear some snippets of the new material, which can be seen and heard below!
We managed to catch up with the band as they talk about the upcoming EP, fans, tour and more!
So how pumped are you guys of the release of ‘Peace in Chaos’?
Releasing an EP is a funny mix of nervousness, anticipation and adrenaline – a little like playing your first gig, you don’t know how people will respond. Thankfully, as we’ve had such a great response so far we’re pretty much on a constant high of adrenaline now, so yeah, pretty freakin’ pumped!
Tell us a little bit about the EP, how did you come up with the name?
As a band, we’ve been told that we reminded people about why they first started listening to rock music in the first place – big riffs, lots of groove and plenty of attitude and personality. Needless to say we were flattered [as f*ck] as we were just 4 guys playing the music we liked. Peace In Chaos is our way of reaching out in hope that we can do that for those who haven’t heard of us yet. That and satisfying our own egos of course! The name comes from a line in one of the songs – Hidden Patterns – it just seemed to fit. The world is so chaotic and even if you try to find sense in it, you often can’t so you just have to find your peace in the chaos.
Have you got a favourite song from the release?
Ha! Isn’t that like asking a parent who their favourite child is? Thankfully, we have no problems with that – Give Them Blood is our favourite at the moment and we are currently filming the music video for it, which, will be out soon.
Would you say this is different to your previous release?
Peace In Chaos is our first proper release so, yes, this differs massively from the previous live recordings we did – they did their job and helped get us our bigger gigs, but this EP is setting the new precedent for us now.
What was it like to be part of the ‘United We Stand fundraising effort’? Is this something you believe in heavily?
For me, hearing the news about Team Rock was one of those “I remember exactly where I was when I heard it,” kind of moments. They played such a big part in helping build up new bands and to keep people connected to their favourite bands. Whether to be a part of the fundraiser or not wasn’t even a question to us. It is a huge loss to the industry and we hope the writers find ways in which to carry on their great work and we hope the fundraiser gives them the opportunity to do so.
How much do your fans mean to you guys?
Like any band, we are nothing without fans and we’re really lucky to have such great ones. Our love is playing live and we always give it our all – our fans deserve nothing less.
What has been your proudest moment so far?
Proudest moment? We got to support Electric Six…Electric freakin’ Six! I love those guys. I think the other members of our band might say meeting Skindred and playing at their after party, which, to be fair, was pretty surreal, but did I mention…Electric Six…
Will there be a tour to go with the release of the EP?
Yes. We will be going round the UK as much as possible to promote this EP and new dates get added all the time. Think of us like we are on a giant rolling tour that never stops.
If you could work with any band on a song, who would it be and why?
Damn. Any band? Well people would expect us to say either RHCP or RATM, but honestly, I would prefer to work with someone who we could put a Final Clause of Tacitus stamp on without feeling like we were treading on each others toes. We’ve been told our cover of Boom Shake The Room is pretty good so maybe working with Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff would be rewarding and yield some interesting results.
