Nottingham Quintet High Tides, who describe themselves as ‘putting emo into pop punk since 2015’, are pleased to announce their sophomore release. Mini-album I’m Not Giving Up, I’m Just Starting Over is scheduled for release on 17th March 2017 via Scylla Records. Vocalist Christian Litchfield comments, ‘The title is in keeping with the theme of the EP, which is really about heartbreak, learning from mistakes and realising that things do get better; sometimes you just have to make a fresh start for that to happen.’ High Tides are also now streaming lead single 52 below!

which features guest vocals from Miles Kent of Catch Fire, with the band revealing: ‘We decided to lead with this as we believe it has the most impact. It is personal to Chris, with the ’52’ representing 52 playing cards in which his ex wrote a reason on each one why she loved him, before things turned sour, as you’ll hear.’

High Tides, completed by Tom Slack (bass/vocals), Matt Bramley (guitar/vocals), Alex Hiley (guitar) and Connor Rogers (drums), have for the most part, been in eachother’s lives for years and some even from school age: ‘We’ve all been in bands previously both together and separately, but this final line up just clicked instantly both musically and socially’. Within the busy sphere pop punk, High Tides say that what sets them apart from their contempories is both their music and their live show: ‘We feel our sound brings some fresh elements to the UK Pop punk sound, being a bit deeper and more mature than other bands on the scene, tending to stray from the typical ‘In sound’ currently being shared.

‘Live it’s always crazy energetic and we put absolutely everything into it, we don’t feel we’ve done a good enough job unless we come off stage looking like we’ve had a bath in sweat.

‘I think that energy appeals to the crowd and allows them to enjoy every show by seeing how much we enjoy it, and that its okay to have a good old dance.’
