Living on four continents in five years, Brett has existed on the fringe of society and avoided the American Dream at all costs. The constant traveling has equipped him with a wisdom of the DIY lifestyle that is unprecedented. Utilizing his film making talents, Brett has unloaded his anecdotes and advice about touring around the world onto a YouTube series called ‘Crusty Adventures‘. The (often hilarious) series documents the dark underbelly of touring, including tales of blackmail in Germany, flaming brake rotors in Norway, train robbery in South Africa, and soberingly, the terrorism in Brussels during the wake of the Paris attacks.

Brett also spent some time in Saigon, writing jingles for television campaigns. These jingles included a massively successful commercial for tampons, which earned him the esteemed title The Vagina King of Vietnam by his creative director.

Brett will be the first to tell you that the lifestyle does take its toll, but it’s all contributed to the creative process of writing Land, Air, Sea, Garage out on 1st November. Check out Garage below!

We managed to catch up with Brett about his latest single, upcoming album, fans and more!
How has the release of Garage gone?
Morale is high! Emo-o-meter is super low, maybe 1/10
You like to travel a lot, would you say this is a key inspiration to your music?
Traveling and Music are extreme buddies. They fit together like legos. You can’t have one without the other. Touring is the greatest fun. I hope I keep loving touring even when Im old and my balls sag to the floor.
How proud are you of your upcoming release – Land, Air, Sea, Garage?
Pumped. I owe it mostly to my new tour diet. It really boosted my health and helped me write better songs. Always be pounding carrots, yogurt and meat sticks to keep energy high: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FuF8MsEk_s
Tell us a little bit about the album.
Many of the ideas were conceived while posting up in S Africa two winters ago. Also some of the songs were written while driving around Europe in Chuck Ragan the Car.
What is your favorite song from the album?
My Blood Is Gettin’ Dirty & My Skin is Wearin’ Thin
If you could work with any artist, who would it be and why?
Musically, Im currently obsessed with Nada Surf and Kevin Morby. But the person I’d most want to party with would be SHAQ or Charles Barkley.
How much do your fans mean to you?
They are my buddies and I owe them big hugs for supporting me.
Will you be touring for the album?
Yes, boat loads. We’l be going to Europe, S Africa and America and Canada on Land Air Sea Garage.
