Marianas Trench have recently announced their first ever headlining tour in the UK and Europe, ‘Marianas Trench’s European Vacation’. The tour kicks off on September 30th in Glasgow, Scotland. The Vancouver, BC-based four piece band are currently in the middle of a U.S tour which is in support of their newly released fourth studio album Astoria on Cherrytree/Interscope worldwide. Channelling influences as diverse as The Beatles, Queen, Tears for Fears, Michael Jackson, George Michael and Depeche Mode, among others, it’s Marianas Trench’s most ambitious record to date: unapologetically cinematic, constantly surprising and featuring lush orchestral textures that segue seamlessly into powerful songs. You can check out the band’s acoustic version of Who Do You Love below!

We managed to catch up with the band about the single, fans, new music and more!

How has the release of WHO DO YOU LOVE gone?

Our new single “Who Do You Love” is fresh off the blocks here in Canada.  It just went to radio and so far the results are very positive! We just wrapped up the shoot for the video yesterday and are hoping to have it edited and out in the next couple weeks.

Would you say this is any different to your previous releases?

As far as videos go we have never done one like this before.  We’ve kept the crew to a minimum and we’ve used the video budget to pay it forward and put the money to good use in our communities.  I don’t want to spoil the video so you’ll just have to wait a couple more weeks for the details!

It’s nearly been a year since the release of Astoria, Is there any talks of a new album soon?

There are talks of starting it yes! Albums for us are quite the project.  We try never to have B side tracks creep their way on to an album, we want to make sure each song stands strong on its own, hopefully all killer no filler!  We should probably be starting the writing process this winter.

You have a big fan base, how much does your fans mean to you guys?

They mean everything to us, its not much fun to write music that no one listens to!  They keep us going every step of the way.  Trenchers rule.

What inspirations do you guys have?

Really just to expand and play all over the world, its amazing to be able to see new faces in new places.

If you could go on tour or work with any band, who would it be and why?

Hmm that’s a tough one.  I’d say the beach boys so I could sit side stage every night and smile.

What has been your proudest moment been since forming 15 years a go?

I’d say for me playing arenas.  It’s nice to know that your music reaches enough people to play well into the thousands.  When you hear that many people belting out your lyrics I guess you know you’re doing something good out there.

How pumped are you to be playing in the UK for the first time?

EXTREMELY PUMPED!  I’ve only been to Scotland when I was a kid and I’m very excited to be visiting 5 cities in the UK on this run.  I can’t wait to soak up the culture.  One of crew is originally from England so he’s going to be our tour guide.

What venue are you most looking forward to playing throughout the European tour?

ALL OF THEM!

Tell me something that not many people know about you guys?

We’re uber healthy these days.  Fans sometimes bring us candy and sweets when we’re on the road so we just give them to our crew.  They work way harder than us anyways and deserve the treat.
