Fresh from a summer spent wowing audiences on the Vans Warped Tour, all-American indie-rockers Redlands have released Anybody, the lead single from their new EP Is There Anybody Out There? Redlands have established themselves as one of the leading independent bands in the USA. Led by charismatic frontman Ben Lohle. You can check out Anybody below!

I managed to catch up with the band for an interview about the new EP, Vans Warped Tour, new music and more!

Tell us a little about the band and the new EP – is it different from your previous work?
Well I started this band back in 2013 and have been writing music for the group almost four years now, but the progression has been great. It’s been a lot of fun working with various people during writing precesses, but this latest release in particular really showcases the current members. Just like anything in life things don’t work out on the first try, especially with a group of musicians, but I’m pretty pumped this current band has been with me for over a year now and this release was something that we all made together! It’s a lot darker and emotional, but that was something that intrigued us to make it an EP and release it the way we did. We recorded it completely ourselves and it was just a lot of fun to say we did and walk away from it feeling certain we can do this years to come.
How was it self producing the EP? Challenging?
Challenging at times, sure.. but we’re all producers of all kinds of music and we’re always writing and recording so it was just a matter of holding ourselves accountable and setting a timeframe and just tackling as if we were paying someone for studio time. All in all though, the process was very inspiring and left us free to really try whatever we wanted.
What inspirations do you have as a band?
Honestly, our friends that around us. We like to surround ourselves with other bands and musicians or even people doing things that simply make them happy. It inspires us to work hard at what we love to do.
How was Vans Warped Tour? What was your best moment on the tour?
It was a blast, we are so grateful for that opportunity and to play in front of so many people! It was all good, but if I had to chalk it up I’d have to say meeting so many people that were out there supporting new music and trying to find anything new that they could…that kinda shit is rare…most people go to see their favorite bands and that’s it. It’s a humbling experience to be able to win some new ears!
Are you looking to release a full length album & more tour dates soon?
Yeah, we’re actually starting our next release this fall and gearing up to hit the road again!
If you could work or tour with any band, who would it be and why?
I think we could all agree opening for The Maine would be incredible. Those guys work so hard at what they do and they’re one of those bands that has inspired us from the very beginning.
