Our Nameless Boy performed alongside Scarecrow Boat, Press to Meco, Future Love and Faux who released their new EP at Southampton’s The Joiners last Friday. The lads thanked the guys at Faux and lead singer/ guitarist Iain also thanked his band mates and said they have been the best of friends this past year. Our Nameless Boy has great stage presence and are truly got a lot of potential having watched the gig. The Bristol band was born of previous punk and indie band mates and a strong need to move into more emotive, driven territories of musical ambition. After the gig I managed to catch up with Iain about the gig, he said: ‘It went alright, bit rusty, it’s been a little while since we’ve rehearsed.

‘It’s been a long time since we last actually played a show.

‘It’s a whole long term illness thing but first time back which is cool.

‘Faux invited us back, we done a tour with them and various other bits and bobs so we’ve known them for quite a while really.’

When talking about new music and future gigs, Iain continued and said ‘We actually went to the studio today with Daley from Faux and for the next week we will be recording five tracks for an EP.

‘He’s (Daley) one of the engineers at The Ranch so we’re working with him for a week.

‘After that I know we have Basingstoke lined up at some point and we haven’t looked much further than that to be honest.

‘We’ve only recorded two singles and put out one so far so we got that to sort of tie us over but its sort of early days really.

‘It’s the first time we’ve recorded at The Ranch and we recorded two singles with a guy called Lewis, he’s really cool so we thought we’d try something different.

When asked if he felt privileged to play at Southampton’s The Joiners, Iain continued and said: ‘Yes it’s one of those venues where it’s a box ticked really.

‘It’s a cool venue, it reminds me of the Exchange in Bristol which is where we’re from.

‘It’s amazing to come down and play here.’

Looking ahead to the future, Iain finished by talking about where he sees the band in five years time and whether the goal is to be up there with the bigger bands and said: ‘If people like us enough but I just like playing shows and writing songs.

‘Our main goal really is to just play more which is kind of the main fun for us!’
