Manchester pop punk band Landmarks are set to release their new EP In Spite Of It All on 12th August via Scylla Records. The lads recently announce we’re now apart of the Pioneer Music Agency Roster along with Max Raptor, Catch Fire ,Freeze the Atlantic and many more up and coming bands in the UK. They will also be playing in their hometown at the end of the month at Ruby Lounge alongside Better Than Never, Coast To Coast, On The Open Road and Tuskens on 29th July. Landmarks will also have a few over August/September however they have stated that they are in the ‘process of trying to put something together’. You can check out Landmarks’ new single Cutting Strings below.

I managed to talk to vocalist/guitarist Brad and guitarist Nic about the up coming  EP, fans, inspirations and more!

Are you guys looking forward to the release of ‘In Spite of it All’?

Nic: Absolutely! It’s shaping up to be our biggest release yet! We’ve already had an outpouring of support from fans and media outlets alike. People seem to be really digging the first single, ‘Cutting Strings’!

What’s going to be different about this release?

Nic: We’ve become a lot more professional with how we get stuff done. We’ve put a lot more time and effort in to this release than any of our previous releases and we’re already starting to see some rewards for our efforts.

You’ve got a gig coming up this month in Manchester, are you looking forward to that?

Nic: It’s always great to play hometown shows, especially when your hometown is Manchester! A bunch of friends and family will no doubt make an appearance, but the music scene in Manchester is so healthy at the moment that people are going to shows far more than they used to. Gigs in Manchester are always lively and the people that come along just seem to really enjoy live music.

What’s it like being part of an up and coming band like yourselves?

Nic: Did you ever read the book ‘The Little Engine That Could’ when you were a kid? Well, it’s like the first few pages of that.

What would you say to your fans that go to gigs and listen to your music?

Brad: I’d say have fun but be mindful of those around you. There’s a lot of controversy surrounding gigs within our scene at the moment and it’s just not necessary. Remember, everyone’s there to have a good time, including us, so let’s all just party together and enjoy it!

What music inspires you guys?

Brad: My favourite band is Taking Back Sunday and they inspire me to write more than any other band. There’s a few other artists we take inspiration from as well though – Jimmy Eat World, Brand New, Say Anything, The Hotelier, etc. – as well as the odd song on the radio. Pop music isn’t as evil as people think, it’s just catchy.

Where would you like to see yourselves in 5 years time?

Brad: We’re not in this for fame or fortune, seriously, we just have fun playing music and we get to do that thanks to everyone’s support. At most, it’d be nice to make a living off what we enjoy doing, that doesn’t mean mansions and limos or anything, but if we got to the point where music could pay the bills, I’d be more than happy.

Have you got any plans for a full length tour?

Brad: We’re in the process of trying to put something together at the moment but we all have full time jobs outside of the band so sometimes it’s hard for us all to get certain dates off. There will definitely be one going ahead in the near future though in support of ‘In Spite of it All’ so keep your eyes peeled!
