Harrogate band Blood Youth have been slowly but surely been making their way up the ladder in the world of rock. The band themselves describe their genre as ‘Triple Dragon’ and they certainly breath fire with some killer vocals that will sure to get everyone singing along to. They play 2000 Trees this weekend on the Saturday at The Cave stage where they will be making their debut at the festival. The lads are set to play a whole host of festivals after that including Y Not Festival at the end of July and Butserfest in September. Their current EP Closure has been out for just under four months now however the band recently released a music video for Mood Swing of the EP back in May which has achieved nearly 10,000 hits. You can listen to the song below.

I managed to interview the lads about 2000 Trees, their latest release, fans and more!

Are you looking forward to playing 2000 Trees?

Absolutely! We’ve known and heard sick things about this festival for ages but never actually gone or played before, so we’re 100% looking forward to it.

Would you consider the festival being a highlight of your year?

 One of! Haha.

How has the release of Closure been?

It’s been SO well received, we’re always blown away by the first week sales we get back from both our EPs, and we still question how that many people even know or give a crap about us! So thank you to everyone out there for picking up Closure so far, it’s been mind blowing!

You’ve got a fair few festivals coming up but is there any plan for a tour soon?

We’re actually super super busy behind the scenes. I know normally after a release would come a heavy touring schedule but for the time we released Closure it’s been pretty tame because of how much stuff is going on behind the curtain. We are SO busy. We have some things in the works though and we can’t wait to get back on the road!

What would you say to fans that buy your music and go to the gigs etc?

Just a huge thank you, it’s one of those things where you can’t actually tell them how much it means to you, but in the music industry, that is literally everything to a band. So thank you so much, and no matter where we are in the next 10 years, we’re always going to stay grounded and know that it’s all because of the fans out there being so rad. Nobody should ever forget that!

Have you any plans on releasing new music this year?

Maybe not this year but something is definitely cooking…

Where would you see yourselves in five years time?

Hopefully doing the same thing we’re doing now! Just touring some rad tours, exploring new places and having a good time playing some sweet jams to some beautiful people!

Have you got any music inspirations?

Me personally, Slipknot’s IOWA album. That album hits harder than any album ever released. It’s physically disgusting to listen to, and i love that. But as a unit, we take a lot of inspiration from bands like Every Time I Die, The 1975, and The Wonder Years. Extremely diverse!
