Deny Thy Father

Hello my friends, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it here again, there is plenty of new music out there, please have a dig around, support your local scene, a lot of new bands need our attention to continue the good work they do.
How many times have we all said something like

‘This song really helped me when I was suffering’

I know I have, live music is in real trouble, the bands of tomorrow, need your help today.

It is with a heart full of gladness that I bring you local heroes Denied Legacy, I first saw these guys at Pirate Studios when they were part of a six band line -up and we were dashing between studios to catch the performances, it was great fun.
Today they come armed with ‘Letters to my Therapist’ a full bloodied and full bodied look at mental health, a topic that has more recently been under the microscope as we all learn to analyse, assess and adapt to life where people are allowed to show vulnerability without being hounded and harassed. There is still a long way to go, but our fabulous band of brothers here are doing their bit to carry this weight and shine a light on our innermost thoughts.
The music is proactive; it is loud, fast and unequivocally robust, there is a message to be delivered. It piques your skin, the melodies move phantomwise as they excavate your insides and then it settles at the base of your spine, gently percolating, allowing you to breathe, allowing you to stand up and be counted.
It is a very complex and personal topic; engagement without fear is only part of the resolution. Healing therapies are available, but for me it all starts with music, this is my resource.
Championed by my friends Terri of The Midweek Mosh, and DJ Millabong’s Rock of Ages, found at Switch Radio and Brum Radio respectively., they too are worthy of the biggest shout out for their tireless work in the grassroots.

If you deny your father, or father figure, you risk the legacy becoming a ligature, the future remains bleak and unfulfilled.
Grab this gem and hold it close, believe me, that feeling is something money can’t buy, and it will forever be a legacy that cannot be denied.

I’ll just leave this here;

“I said: what about my eyes?
He said: keep them on the road.
I said: what about my passion?
He said: keep it burning.
I said: what about my heart?
He said: tell me what you hold inside it.
I said: pain and sorrow
He said: stay with it, the wound is the place where the light enters you.
