Pop Artists Thera Teases New EP at The Century Club in London

Thera is a nineteen-year-old Czech singer, who already has an arena tour, a number-one debut album back home, and support slots for Jason Derulo and Loreen behind her. Last night, she brought all of that down to something much smaller: a private set at London’s Century Club, previewing songs from her upcoming live EP ‘everywhere, all at once’.

The setup tells you what kind of night this is going to be. No band, no lights, no polish, just Thera’s voice and piano, playing songs from the EP stripped down to almost nothing. Earlier, the room had watched England scrape past DR Congo in the World Cup on a screen by the bar, drinks in hand, canapés doing the rounds. Now the mood shifts. Everyone finds a seat or a wall to lean against.

She opens with her latest single, ‘do you see?’, and hearing it like this, piano-only, no studio sheen, it lands differently than the recorded version. Slower. Heavier. Thera’s talked before about where the song came from: “I wrote ‘do you see?’ from the feeling of constantly needing to be perfect for everyone and the quiet way those expectations build until they become overwhelming.” She adds that it’s something almost anyone can relate to, in their own way, and in this room, stripped of production, that idea sits right on the surface. It doesn’t sound like a pop single anymore. It sounds like a confession. On record, the song leans into euphoric dark-pop production; stripped to piano, that gloss disappears and only the ache underneath is left.

‘rain’ follows, it’s a genuinely somber, patient song, played slower and sadder than you’d expect from something written by someone just twelve years old. Then “rewind,” her lead single, closes things out, and even without the arena crowd it was reportedly recorded in front of, it still carries weight.

Thera also plays a new track over the speakers while explaining she’s working on a new sound. Three songs, one voice, one piano. Sometimes that’s all you need to prove something.
