If the unstoppable rise of actress, singer, and composer Qymira captured your attention following her first leading role in the high-octane action drama Shadow Transit, audiences should prepare to see much more of the sophisticated and captivating star on screen. Marking her second major lead performance, Qymira is set to headline LOTUS – a gritty international action thriller directed by Pedring Lopez.
Set to command the film with her undeniable screen presence, Qymira will appear alongside an acclaimed global cast. This includes Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding Jr, best known for his role in Jerry Maguire, Australian Actor Luke Ford, Cristian Lavin and Brazilian actor Alberto Cowboy. Fresh from her 2025 UK tour supporting Boyzlife, the picture also reunites her with Irish singer Keith Duffy – further blending her musical ventures with her expansion into cinema..
A sweeping global thriller built on a story of survival and brutal realism, LOTUS is the latest global thriller from Lopez, this time infused with neo-noir sensibilities. Juxtaposing the vibrant beauty and underlying peril of Brazil with the neon-lit nightlife of Manila, the film promises a raw, intense, and immersive cinematic experience.
This follows in the stylistic footsteps of Shadow Transit, which recently showed at the Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival as part of its expanding international festival. Qymira recently attended, representing the project during its Orlando screening.
With the production combining established industry talent with emerging performers from the Philippines independent film and action scene, it also lays the groundwork for the upcoming project A Thread Of Steel – another action feature that will see Qymira in the lead role and the sign of an emergence in a major force over the next several years.
“After the incredible experience of ‘Shadow Transit,’ returning to work with Pedring and the Black ops team on ‘Lotus’ feels very special to me,” said Qymira.
“This film is bigger, darker and even more ambitious, and I’m excited to be part of a story that connects Manila and Brazil in such a visceral way. Brazil has also held a special place in my heart especially after having performed at the Salvador Carnival and released several Portuguese and English songs with local artists which topped the Bahia radio charts, so bringing those worlds together in this film feels incredibly personal.”
Whether audiences know her as an emerging pop artist, composer, conductor, philanthropist, or now a rising screen actress, LOTUS marks a bold return to cinema and a significant step toward stardom.
