Interview: Neverskin

So how has your latest album/EP gone so far with fans then?

Neverskin:

I wish it was an EP or album release, but we have come no further than 3 solid single releases in the last 8-10 month period.
Although as I say ‘I wish’ on one end, the industry standard has shifted from EP’s and albums to more of a periodic single release format.

Fan wise, we are super happy with every single person that gives our tracks the time to listen to, even more so if they decide to like, comment and share it. It is hard to describe how much gratitude something as simple as that gives us. We are also slowly getting some more media and radio attention, which is very nice as well.

Tell us something about the release no one knows?

Neverskin:
I don’t know if “no one knows,” but when circumstances made me and Remy reunite after about 20 years (we used to play in the band Ambiossis together), we caught up and ended up trying to make a song together just a few weeks later. The thing people might not know is that I was very insecure, nervous, and pretty hard on myself when I tried recording those first vocal lines. I am, and have always been, an “it has to be 120% or nothing at all” kind of person; I’m harder on myself than anyone else could ever be. I literally remember sweating out of fear during those first few days, worried that I wouldn’t be able to do it anymore. But after about a week of getting back into the groove, it started clicking: the high notes landed, the multilayers fit, and the confidence and joy finally pushed those other emotions away.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Neverskin:
That would probably be a band like Taproot, Sevendust, Memphis May Fire, or Incubus, all old-school nu-metal-ish, rock-ish bands with an enormous knack for composing and musical craft. It feels like I could have a great time with those guys and learn a lot at the same time. If we’re talking about the “never-gonna-happen” wish list, then it would be Korn, Deftones, Bad Omens, Architects, and many, many more. 🙂 Honestly, I would be happy to do a project with any artist who has great musical insight and strong compositional skills.

Can you tell us about the meaning behind the release?

Neverskin: Releasing each of our singles has meant letting go of something personal—something we’ve worked on with all the energy, passion, and creativity we possess—to be judged by the world. It is a very satisfying feeling, but it also brings a fresh set of nerves with it. Although we are truly happy with every view or listen we get, we always hope the reach is wide, or that the song sparks something special in the listener. The release of our first single, “Snatched,” was extra special, as it marked the return of two artists who hadn’t worked together in 20 years.

What tours do you have coming up, and what can you tell us about them?

Neverskin:
Since we have released three singles and are close to finishing a fourth (which is about 95% ready musically), we are currently still in the “set building” phase. We don’t have any concrete plans to play live just yet; that really depends on the growth we see and the demand we receive. Speaking for myself, there’s definitely a part of me that’s curious about what it would be like to hit the stage again. It’s been about 12 years since my last live show, so it’s been a while. I’m sure some of those old “stage anxiety” symptoms might come creeping back if we do, but it’s definitely a thought that’s lingering! 🙂

What venue are you looking forward to playing the most, and why?

Neverskin:
Let me get into that “let’s dream big” state of mind! If I could choose any festival or venue to play, the list would be long.

Locally, here in the Netherlands, we always dreamt of playing Lowlands back in the day. Even though the festival has changed quite a bit and has become more commercially oriented, we would definitely still love to play there. The Ziggo Dome would be insane, but venues like Paradiso, 013, and the Melkweg are the most legendary and well-known—I actually had the pleasure of playing the Melkweg once before.

Internationally? Graspop Metal Meeting, Download Festival, Vainstream, and the Warped Tour would be absolute dream scenarios. And honestly, heading out on an Asian tour—like playing shows in Japan—would be completely insane! 🙂

What else can we expect from you in 2026?
Neverskin:
More single releases, first and foremost. As I mentioned, our next single is almost finished. Once we take care of the visualizer, the lyric video, and all the promo kits and socials, the banners, album covers, and everything else that comes with being completely independent, we’ll be ready to release it. And, as a little spoiler: Remy is already calling it his new favorite! 🙂

Apart from that, we are currently working on a song that is completely different from the first three. It’s actually very personal for me, which is why it’s taking me longer than usual to write and record the vocals. The rest of the year is all about spreading the word about Neverskin and our music, hoping to reach more listeners and interact with people through our social media channels. Growing and expanding, I guess that’s the general theme for us!
