DAVE HILL’S SLADE
O2 INSTITUTE BIRMINGHAM
Dave Hill’s Slade is, much like Bad Manners or It’s A Wonderful Life, a Christmas must-see. The packed O2 is in a joyful mood as ‘Take Me Back ‘Ome’, ‘Look Wot You Dun’ and ‘My Oh My’ get the voices nicely warmed up. Dave Hill makes it clear that while Slade may not be doing “tours” anymore, it’s not the end of the live road for Slade, and he also has a solo album out in 2026. ‘Coz I Luv You’ is unbelievably fifty-four years old, but it still packs a thump, whereas ‘Run Runaway’ is a bunny hoping Poptastic joy. ‘Far Far Away’ and ‘Gudbuy T’Jane’ are lovingly hurled into the mix before the multi-genre influencing majesty of ‘Mama Weer All Crazee Now’ sees Slase exit stage left. The encores of ‘My Oh My’ and a thunderous ‘Cum On Feel The Noize’ give way to the Santa hat grand finale. The unescapable ‘Merry Xmas Everybody’ rounds off another uber-sentimental night of grand slam Glam Rock N‘Roll.
