SHAB’s Coachella experience was anything but typical – and that was entirely the point.
“You know, the whole Boho Chic styling so permeates the fashion exhibited by women at Coachella that I wanted to do something a bit different,” she says. “There seem to be only two varieties… Boho Chic or otherwise Naked As Legally Allowed.” Instead, she leaned into her own vibe: “I wore my DropTrou bodysuit with black and white cowboy boots… and added a few crystals to my hair. Who needed more than that?”
As a global star and activist speaking openly on women’s rights, she shared “For female artists, there is a greater emphasis on styling and look than for male artists,” pointing out the wider cultural obsession with women’s fashion.
Despite Coachella’s reputation, SHAB kept things low-key. From spotting influencer photo shoots upon arrival to skipping late-night parties for a quiet dinner in Palm Springs, her weekend was intentionally balanced. “I’m much more interested in real people and substance,” she adds, brushing off the celebrity scene.
The highlight came on Sunday, performing a glittering set at L.A. Magazine’s Road to Coachella. “The team could not have been nicer… it was fun, and we met a lot of nice people.”
As for returning? SHAB is candid: “It was not as interesting as most people envisage… I am ONE & DONE unless I was performing again.”
In a festival built on spectacle, SHAB’s Coachella was refreshingly real.
