Eurovision doesn’t always favour artists with real grit, but Switzerland is betting on exactly that in 2026. Veronica Fusaro, an alternative pop singer-songwriter with deep roots in soul and rock, has been confirmed as the country’s representative at this year’s contest in Vienna.
At 28, Fusaro is far from an overnight pick. She’s a hardened live performer with more than 500 shows under her belt, a résumé that includes Glastonbury, Montreux Jazz Festival, and a support slot for Mark Knopfler, no small feat for an artist who built her career outside the mainstream pop machine. Fusaro’s music leans into groove and feel rather than Eurovision bombast. Her voice is warm, expressive, instantly recognisable, and her main weapon, carrying songs that balance vulnerability with quiet confidence. That same quality has made her one of Switzerland’s most respected modern songwriters.
Her debut album, All the Colors of the Sky (2023), entered the Swiss charts at No. 5, while last year’s Looking for Connection pushed her sound further, tackling themes of emotional distance and authenticity in a hyper-connected world. It’s an album that values substance over shine, an interesting choice for a competition often obsessed with spectacle. Speaking about her selection, Fusaro called Eurovision “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” adding that she’s excited to share her music with an international audience.
The staging will be handled by Eurovision heavyweight Fredrik “Benke” Rydman, a name associated with bold, emotionally driven performances rather than empty theatrics. That partnership suggests Switzerland is aiming for impact through storytelling rather than fireworks. The song itself will be unveiled on 11 March 2026, with Fusaro competing in the second semi-final on 14th May.
