Interview: Stone Sea

So how has your latest album gone so far with fans then?

Ad Astra has been very well received so far. We’ve been getting great feedback from listeners and from the press, and our streaming numbers have grown significantly compared to previous years, which feels very rewarding.

Tell us something about the release no one knows?

I wrote the first verses of the song Ad Astra around 2017, back when we were also working on our EP Mankind Maze. At the time, I was jamming on a meditative, drone-like riff on acoustic guitar, heavily influenced by the band OM. The first verses came from reflecting on existence itself and our courage—or lack of it—to act within it.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Working with a heavy, blues-driven band like All Them Witches would be amazing. It would be a very natural blend of styles, as I draw a lot of inspiration from that kind of sound.

Can you tell us about the meaning behind the release?

All the songs deal with inner and outer change, transformation, and the pain and pleasure we experience while moving through different phases of life. Ad Astra felt like the right name because it’s also the final track on the album, and it looks at life from a more distant perspective—time, identity, and impermanence. In a way, it ties together all the themes we explore, since, in the end, everything becomes stardust.

What tours do you have coming up, and what can you tell us about them?

We can’t reveal much just yet, as things are still being confirmed, but later this year we should have some very nice news to share.

What venue are you most looking forward to playing the most, and why?

I’ve been looking up to Sonic Blast and Desertfest for a while now. It would be an amazing chance of showing our music to more people that dig the same style plus, play along with my favourite active bands.

What else can we expect from you now in 2026?

We’re currently working on seven new songs, and the plan is to record them at some point this year. They explore new directions, but they still carry the Stone Sea stamp.
