Ela Minus, Colombian artist and “exhilarating producer” (Remezcla), was nominated for a 2025 Latin GRAMMY® Award: “QQQQ” for Best Latin Electronic Music Performance. The frenetic DÍA album highlight was described by Pitchforkas “the sort of glow-stick-twirling thumper that could topple a Coachella dance tent.” Released earlier this year to much fanfare, Ela’s second album, DÍA, is a rarified feat in electronic music, where cutting-edge production and space-shuddering sonics meet a burgeoning singer-songwriter’s real sense of self-reflection and private reckoning. Landing on several mid-year “Best Of” lists from major publications including Billboard, Rolling Stone, Paste, and Stereogum, DÍA is both introspective and expansive, the wide sweep of its songs revealing more of Ela as person and producer than ever before. The album was mixed by Marta Salogni and mastered by Heba Kadry.
In other Ela Minus news, Synth History’s first ever in-depth video documentary, Synth History: Ela Minus, is now available to watch. Directed by Synth History founder Danz CM, the debut episode of this new series is an intimate look at Ela’s story and the making and inspirations behind DÍA.
Danz comments: “Couldn’t be more excited that the first ever Synth History documentary is on Ela Minus! It was fun to nerd out about synths for the day. We shot the whole thing on 16mm film and MiniDV, staying true to the Synth History aesthetic. We wanted to make it feel kinetic and fun and different from your traditional music doc!”
